Save CO₂ immediately: make the switch in your warehouse today

Every package you ship has an impact. Not only on the protection of your product, but also on the amount of CO₂ released during production, transport and waste processing. Many companies assume that reducing this footprint is a long and complicated process. It is often much simpler: significant gains can already be achieved by switching directly to a more sustainable alternative within your existing range.

At Topa, we don’t believe in vague, theoretical claims. We prefer to make sustainability tangible and practical. By taking a critical look at your standard materials today, you can already reduce your CO₂ emissions tomorrow.

Two product switches with immediate impact

Within our standard range, we continuously expand the number of alternatives that help lower the carbon footprint. Here are two examples of changes you can make today:

6
  • From plastic bubbles to 100% paper: Replace the traditional bubble mailer with our 100% paper padded envelope. You maintain the same level of protection while switching to a mono-material solution that can be fully and easily recycled with paper waste.
  • From wood fibre to elephant grass: Are you currently using traditional Inka wood fibre pallets? Then switch to our Miscanthus pallets. They are made from locally grown elephant grass, which captures large amounts of CO₂ during growth and has a significantly lower environmental impact during production.

Up to 60% material savings on your wrapping line

Alongside product switches that can be implemented immediately, many warehouses also have major untapped savings potential at the wrapping station. When the same film is used every day, it’s easy to lose sight of how much material is actually being consumed.

TOPA Wikkelfolie Machine

This is exactly where substantial CO₂ reductions can be achieved, but it requires a tailored approach. Through our on-site film testing, we often achieve material savings of up to 60%. This is a dedicated service in which our specialists visit your warehouse, analyse the film you are currently using, assess the machine specifications and test alternative high-performance stretch films and machine settings directly on-site.

The goal? Structurally lowering your carbon footprint simply by using far less material while maintaining the same reliable pallet stability.

Tailored optimisation: the Smokey Bubbles case

Rendering 2 doos smokey bubbles

Sometimes the challenge is even more specific and requires a completely new custom-made packaging solution. The customer case of Smokey Bubbles, a fast-growing car care brand, is a perfect example of this.

Their existing packaging was too lightweight, did not fit properly and required excessive void fill. This created unnecessary handling time and material waste. Topa developed custom-fit boxes specifically tailored to their products and bundles. The result?

  • The need for additional void fill disappeared completely.
  • The packing process became faster and smoother.
  • Transport became more efficient, directly reducing emissions throughout the supply chain.

No standard promise of lower costs, but always less impact

When we work together to make your packaging process more sustainable, we look at the bigger picture: materials, transport and processing. Switching to a more sustainable alternative does not always result in immediate cost savings, but it will always lead to lower CO₂ emissions and a more future-proof process.

With the arrival of the new European PPWR legislation, strict requirements regarding waste prevention and recyclability will also apply from 12 August 2026 onwards. Doing nothing is no longer an option.
