Speaking to CEO Hein Stevens: looking back at 2022 and looking ahead to 2023

2022 was a memorable year for Topa. In more ways than one.

We exuberantly celebrated our 100th anniversary. For our customers and suppliers, that century of experience means the certainty of a stable and knowledgeable business partner. We presented delicious Tony Chocolonely bars and cream cakes.

From the beginning of 2022, we introduced ‘the packaging specialist’. To indicate that all our employees, from the administration department to the logistics department, make maximum efforts for the customer to fulfil our mission: ‘we protect your product and relieve you of worries every day’. With our newsletter Topa Update, we inform our clients about developments that are relevant to them. In doing so, we also actively share our knowledge with our relations.

In May 2022, we obtained the certificate ‘climate neutral company’. So right now, as we celebrate our 100th anniversary, we have become a rookie in our business. We immediately took important next steps in that regard. For customers, this not only means that we are maximally in line with their developments, but also that we show that sustainability is an integral part of our vision of business.

Of course, 2022 was also the year of the rapid succession of price increases. These obviously caused discomfort in the market. Topa, with the efforts of many, did everything possible to limit this inconvenience where possible.

In 2023, we will take follow-up steps in sustainability

At Topa, we have made sustainability a specific policy area. In 2023, too, we are going for less. Less CO₂, less cost, less material, less time, less waste, less space. Together with our customers and suppliers, we want to do business as sustainably as possible.   

That is also why we are going to expand the capacity and capabilities of our Topa Institute. Because more and more customers are finding their way to the engineers and designers at our development, testing and research centre. It is precisely this special business unit that assists customers in their quest for fewer CO₂ emissions, less use of raw materials and lower costs in logistics, for example.

‘We go for less’ is the theme we will be promoting in the coming year.
